SANDOWN, N.H. — Mary V. (McKay) Doucette, 88, passed away at her home in Sandown, New Hampshire on October 16, 2018 surrounded by her loving family.

Mary was born in Salem, Mass. on November 20, 1929 to the late James and Catherine (Connolly) McKay. She was raised in Salem and graduated from St. James Grammar School and St. James High School, Class of 1947. After high school, Mary went on to graduate from Hickox Business School in Boston, Class of 1949. Mary lived in Melrose most of her life and the past eight years in New Hampshire.

Mrs. Doucette was a bookkeeper by trade working for Connolly’s Candies in Salem for several years, at Massachusetts Mentor, at Tillotson’s and ending her career at BNY Mellon of Boston where she worked for many years. Mrs. Doucette also helped her husband manage the Pine Banks Gardens Townhouses in Melrose from 1969-1978.

Mary was an excellent cook, loved poetry, was an avid reader and spent many days at the Melrose Public Library where she was offered a job due to her love of the written word. She liked to crochet, going to flea markets, yard sales and looking for antiques. Mary enjoyed spending summers in Magnolia and loved her trip to Ireland with her daughter Maureen. Above all, she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Mrs. Doucette was the beloved wife of the late Donald J. Doucette. Loving mother of Maureen Monahan and her husband Keith of Sandown, N.H. and the late Donald John Doucette Jr. Cherished grandmother of Keith Monahan Jr. of Salem and Matthew Monahan of N.H. Sister of the late Katherine, Lillian, Marguerite and James McKay Jr.. Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and friends.

Friends and family gathered at Gately Funeral Home on Friday, October 19 before leaving in procession to Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main St. Wakefield for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment followed at Puritan Lawn Cemetery in Peabody.
