MELROSE — Patricia “Pattie” Fay, 70, longtime Melrose resident, passed away peacefully, on Sunday, July 14, 2019 at Life Care Center of Stoneham.
Born in Everett on September 27, 1948, Pattie is one of four children of the late Mortimer E. and E. Louise ( Murphy) Fay. She was raised in Melrose, and graduated from Melrose High School in 1967.
A longtime hairdresser, Pattie owned and operated “Pattie Fay’s Hair Design” on Berwick Street in Melrose for 30 years. She developed many friendships through the years with her clients that she truly cared about.
Pattie loved her family, and time spent with them was treasured. She loved to cook and bake for family and friends, and was always on the lookout for a great new recipe. She was an avid reader of books and the Boston Globe, and took great joy in gardening and always enjoyed her houseplants.
Pattie always enjoyed listening to music including classic rock, R&B, old time country, Motown, and Frank Sinatra. When she could, she also enjoyed riding her bicycle.
Pattie’s warmth, kind, caring, and happy go lucky personality will be missed by her beloved family, and the many friends she had made over the years.
Pattie was the beloved sister of Edward N. Fay of Woburn, Michael J. Fay and his wife Katherine of Lynnfield, and Kathleen Fay of Melrose. She is also survived by her nephew Nicholas Fay of Huntington Beach, California.
Our family would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to her neighbor Cindy for taking care of her beloved cat “Sweetie Pie” while she was away, and also her friends that she made and enjoyed sitting out at the picnic table with: Ron, Carolyn, Billy, Kristen, and Carol are just a few of the regulars that Pattie spoke very fondly of.
Services for Pattie will be private. Contributions in Pattie’s memory may be made to the American Heart Association, 300 5th Ave, Waltham, MA 02451, or the MSPCA, 350 S Huntington Ave, Jamaica Plain, MA 02130. For online tribute or directions: RobinsonFuneralHome.com.
