MELROSE — Richard A. “Dickie” Morelli, Jr., 54, of Melrose, passed away on Jan. 25, 2019.

Dickie was born in Boston, raised in Melrose and was a graduate of Malden Catholic High School, Class of 1983. He went on to Benjamin Franklin Institute of Technology and worked as an automotive mechanic for many years. Dickie had a strong religious faith and was very devoted to his late mother Dorothy and his four nieces. He resided most of his life in Melrose and enjoyed skiing, hockey and was a professional scuba diver. Dickie was a very giving person, always helping others and never said no to anyone. His friends, his work and especially his dog “Rufus” were his life.

Dickie was the beloved son of Dr. Richard and the late Dorothy (Casey) Morelli. Caring brother of Susan E. Morelli and her wife Marceia Egler of Fla., Frank M. Morelli and his wife Sharon of Lynnfield and Nathan Morelli and his wife Meghan of Ariz. Loving uncle of Kathryn, Jessica, Victoria and Melissa. Also loving uncle of Julia. Very close friend of Kellieanne McNeil and Julie Ventola. Also survived by relatives and friends.

Visitation was held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Wednesday, Jan. 30. Procession from the Gately Funeral Home on Thursday, Jan. 31, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at the Church of the Incarnation, 425 Upham St., Melrose. Relatives and friends were respectfully invited to attend. Burial in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose.
