Very creative man who was involved with the community
MELROSE — Theodore S. “Ted” Bond, at age 90, a long-time Melrose resident passed away on Sunday, November 20, 2022.
Born in Sanford, Maine, Ted was a graduate of Sanford High School, Class of 1950, and the University of New Hampshire, 1954. Ted served in the US Army from 1955 to 1956 in Germany. He dedicated his 37-year working career to Liberty Mutual as an Insurance Manager.
Ted was very creative and enjoyed stained glass, origami, photography, painting and gardening.
He volunteered as a Cub Scout pack leader, Melrose High Band-Aider and photographer. He was past president of the Melrose Camera Club, and volunteered his time for the New England Historic Genealogical Society.
Ted put his family first and provided wonderful experiences for his family. He orchestrated a five-week, 9,200-mile ‘camping trip’ while visiting historic sites, national parks and roadside attractions. He and his wife Jane also travelled the world, including Egypt, which was a lifelong fascination.
Ted was the husband of Jane (Richardson) Bond with whom he shared a loving partnership during 65 years of marriage. Devoted father of Douglas E. Bond and wife Kimberly of Elgin, IL and Russell D. Bond and wife Kristin of Reading. Grandad of Elysa and Sarah Bond. Uncle of many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by parents Gladys (Stevens) Bond and Richard M. Bond, and his brother Calvert Bond and wife Amanda.
Relatives and friends were kindly invited to gather in honor of Ted’s life during visiting hours at Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose on Thursday, Dec. 1 from 4-6 p.m. Funeral services are private.
