MELROSE — Virginia A. (Meuse) Orsillo, 97, of Melrose, formerly of Wakefield, passed away at the Prescott House in North Andover on September 20, 2019.

Virginia was born in Nova Scotia, Canada, raised in Wakefield, and attended Wakefield High School. She resided in Wakefield for 22 years and Melrose for many years. Virginia worked as a Dietary Aide for the Normandy House Nursing Home in Melrose and the New England Memorial Hospital in Stoneham before her retirement. She was a member of both St. Mary’s Church in Melrose and Most Blessed Sacrament Church in Wakefield for many years.

Virginia was a member of the Melrose Senior Choral Group and enjoyed classical music, crocheting, opera and jig saw puzzles. She was an avid Boston sports fan, especially the Boston Red Sox. Virginia’s family and friends were the most important part of her life.

Virginia was the beloved wife of the late Donald Orsillo for 38 years. Loving mother of Richard Orsillo and his wife Patricia of Salem, N.H., Elizabeth “Betsy” Rosati and her husband Paul of North Andover and the late Donald Orsillo and his wife Penelope Grassi of Conn. Cherished grandmother of Don, Marne, Aimee, Nick and Kate. Caring sister of the late Eleanor Raffuse and George Meuse. Also survived by eight great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Visiting hours were held at the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Monday, September 23. Procession from the Gately Funeral Home was on Tuesday, September 24, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main St., Wakefield. Relatives and friends were respectfully invited to attend. Burial in Forest Dale Cemetery, Malden.
