MELROSE — William F. “Bill” Pesce, 61, passed away at Massachusetts General Hospital on January 20, 2019.

Bill was born in Winthrop, raised in Somerville and graduated from Malden Catholic High School, Class of 1975. He served his country in the United States Air Force. After his discharge from the service, Bill returned home and started working for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts at the Metropolitan District Commission and the DCR for 25 years, retiring in 2010.

Mr. Pesce was a security professional through out his life, starting Harborwatch Security Service providing security to all the cruise boats in Boston for over 25 years and then started AP Event Pro in 2000. He was very well respected for all the companies he worked for. Bill also worked as a security supervisor at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington for the past 12 years. Mr. Pesce always had a great smile and a warm greeting for everyone he encountered. Bill employed so many young men and women all through the summer months at his security business over the years.

He enjoyed traveling with his family, coaching his children in youth sports, watching his daughter cheer and developed a passion for watching his boys play football and the Melrose High School football team.

He was the beloved husband of 18 years to Alyssa C. (Hickey) Pesce. Loving father of William J. Pesce, Taylor R. Pesce, Brayden C. Pesce all of Melrose and Anthony M. Pesce of Malden. Cherished son of Angelo and Lena (Picardi) Pesce of Maine. Loving brother of Judy O’Neil and her husband Joe of Winchester, Michael Pesce of Maine and Angela Delorfano and her husband Michael of N.H. Beloved son-in-law of Janice and Al Hickey of Melrose. Proud uncle of Cameron, Regan, and Coryn Hickey of Melrose, Michaela and Christina O’Neil of Winchester and Michael and Ashley Pesce of Revere. Also survived by many loving family members, co-workers and friends.

Visitation will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Friday January 25 from 4-8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary’s Church, 9 Herbert St. Melrose on Saturday January 26 at 10 a.m. Interment at Wyoming Cemetery in Melrose. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
