MELROSE — William Warren “Bill” Austin, 80, passed away on September 27, 2017. 

William was the son of the late Raymond F. Austin and the late of Marie M. Austin and leaves behind his wife of 39 years, Betty, a son William W. Austin, a daughter Jean Marie Austin Blais (Gigi ), his siblings Raymond “Sonny” Austin Jr., Beverly J. Doyle and, the late Barbara Lano. Five grand children and eight great grandchildren.

William worked at General Electric for 30 + years as machinist, retired, and then worked for Taxi Time for 7 years.  He had a lifelong love of football, as he played football for Malden High School as the quarterback.  He was also class treasurer.  He loved patriotic music and also Frank Sinatra.  Bill was a true American spirit, enjoyed holidays with loved ones, will forever be remembered for his radiant smile, and a poem he loved “Only One Life so soon has passed, Only things done with love will last.”

He lived in Malden most of his life and the past 38 years in Melrose. Funeral Services were private. Interment at Forest Dale Cemetery in Malden. Arrangements by The Gately Funeral Home, Melrose.
