Jaime Mahoney, Danielle’s nominator for the award, made a very heartfelt speech and presented Danielle with a plaque on behalf of Melrose Youth Soccer at the end of the game. City Councilor Jen Grigoraitis also presented Danielle with the City of Melrose commendation honoring DeSimone with a Leadership in Girls’ Sports.

Despite the heat, there was plenty of noise made as family, friends and members of the Melrose Youth Soccer community gathered to celebrate the popular youth coach.

What’s better: Melrose beat Stoneham, 2-0.
