Play Reading in an elimination tonight at Morelli Field

MELROSE — The Wakefield Merchants will have a rematch against the Reading Bulldogs in the Intercity League playoffs tonight at 8 p.m. at Morelli Field.
The Bulldogs dropped a 9-2 game against top-seeded Lexington last night in a winners’ bracket game at Lexington High School.
Meanwhile, the Andre Chiefs edged the Watertown Reds by a 3-2 score at Morelli Field in the winners’ bracket game.
As a result, there is one rematch as the Merchants once again take on the Bulldogs with the loser of tonight’s game being eliminated from the playoffs.
The other losers’ bracket game will feature the Arlington Trojans at the Watertown Reds tonight at 7:30 p.m. at Victory Field.
The winners’ bracket team game tonight will have the Andre Chiefs at the Lexington Blue Sox at 8 p.m. at Lexington High School. The winner advances to the best-of-five championship series.
On Sunday, the winners of the Wakefield/Reading and Watertown/Arlington games will square off.
On Monday will be the losers’ bracket final between the final two teams with one loss. The winner of that game will play the Chiefs-Blue Sox winners in the best-of-five championship series beginning Tuesday night, Aug. 18 at 8 p.m. at Morelli Field.
