BOSTON—Melrose High School senior Kevin Wheelock continued his incredible high school indoor track season at the 2017 New England Championship on Saturday at the Reggie Lewis Center. Wheelock ran the two mile race in 9 minutes and 24 seconds, good for 7th among all the distance runners in New England.

It was yet another personal best for the senior standout. His time was under the 9:30 mark that is required to run at Nationals. Kevin will do just that as he will race in the 5k race at the 2017 New Balance in New York city at the New Balance Track and Field Center this Friday. Coach Kevin Allison once again had high praise for Wheelock. “Kevin was seeded 9th in the field of 30 and exceeded expectations again. He is such a competitive, focused athlete. I think he will do even better at the longer race this week.”
