DANVERS — Michael Joseph Slazar, 66, of Wakefield died Tuesday, Nov. 3, at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers.

Born in Lynn on Jan. 8, 1949, he was the son of the late Michael Joseph and Nettie (Bosley) Slazar and stepson of the late Fred Goldstien.

After graduating with his master’s degree from Salem State, Michael went on to teach the sciences in the Lynn Public School System for 35 years. On top of his passion for teaching, Michael was an expert fisherman, cigar connoisseur and avid reader.

Michael is survived by his loving wife Althea; his daughter and son in-law Alexandra and Michael Makarewicz of Wakefield; daughter Victoria Slazar of Reading; grandson Michael John Makarewicz Jr.; three sisters, Kathrine Slazar of Salem, his sister and brother in-law Deborah and Gary Grant of Lynn and Mary Brodeur of New Hampshire.

Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Friday, Nov. 6 from 4 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be private.
