Hessobit-webWAKEFIELD — Nancy Judith Hess, 64, of Wakefield died on June 27 after a long battle with cancer.

Born on February 4, 1953 in Wilmington, DE, Nancy was the daughter of the late Leah Heist Hess and Charles Frederick Hess, Jr.

Nancy was a graduate of Ramapo High School in Franklin Lakes, NJ and earned a bachelor’s degree in French and Liberal Arts from the University of Hartford. During her college career, Nancy spent a year studying at the University of Paris and this experience led to a lifelong love of the “City of Lights” and of French culture, language and cuisine.

Nancy worked at Delta Airlines for 28 years in various capacities, the last of which was as a learning specialist in the Training Department.

Nancy enjoyed extensive traveling and visited many places including Vietnam, Myanmar, Costa Rica, Britain, and most of the European countries, especially France. She spent every significant birthday in Paris and had dinner at her favorite restaurant there. She was a gourmet cook, an avid knitter, a gardener and a volunteer caseworker for the American Red Cross.

Nancy is survived by her brother Charles Frederick Hess III and his wife Joan of Blaine, WA and by her sister Susan Maliot, her husband Jerry and their daughter Jenna of University Park, FL.

A memorial service will be held at St. Patrick Parish, 71 Central St. Stoneham, MA on Friday, August 18 at 11 a.m.
