Former Melrose resident

WAKEFIELD — Nancy M. (Jardine) Ulrich of Wakefield, formerly of Melrose, died on Sunday, June 11, at the Woburn Nursing Center after a brief illness.

Born in Quincy on June 5, 1932, she was the daughter of the late George and Helen (Walls) Jardine.

Ms. Ulrich was a graduate of Stoneham High School, Class of 1950. Her family, faith and church were the most important elements of Nancy’s life. Ms. Ulrich spent many years as a Sunday school teacher and Christian youth group leader. She was a long-time employee of W.H. Jones & Sons Architects of Melrose and Commercial Union Insurance of Boston.

She was the loving mother of Alan W. Ulrich and his wife Camilla of Reading, Deborah L. Ulrich of Wakefield and Kerry C. Ulrich and his wife Sandy of Keene, NH. She was the beloved grandmother of Kaitlin, Sarah, Emily and Andy. She was the dear great grandmother of Wes, Noah and Jamie. She was the sister of Margaret E. Benson and her late husband Arthur L. of Suffield, CT and the late Dorothy C. Ayres of Wakefield. She is also survived by her loving nieces, nephews and her Canadian cousins. She leaves behind her dearest friend Lyn Huttunen along with many other treasured friends.

A memorial service will be held in the Loud Chapel at the First Baptist Church, 8 Lafayette St., in Wakefield on Saturday, June 17, at 1 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Private burial will be held at a later date.
