NORTH READING —The Valade and Buckley families happily gathered recently to present the Jay E. Valade and Paul E. Buckley Scholarship for Altruism to Caroline Casey and Nessren Ourdyl, both graduates of North Reading High School’s Class of 2021 where among their many activities they both served as class officers, Ourdyl as president and Casey as vice president.

The families were excited to have two very deserving recipients of the scholarships. Both ladies were highly nominated by faculty for their selfless activities, volunteer efforts and leadership qualities. The Valades and Buckleys wish Caroline and Nessren the best this fall as they begin their college careers. Caroline will attend Villanova University and Nessren will attend Tufts University.

This year marks the second year in which the Jay E. Valade and Paul E. Buckley Scholarship for Altruism was presented to deserving high school graduates from North Reading in memory of these two dynamic husbands and fathers who devoted so much of their free time to coaching and mentoring the town’s youths.
