NEC-CAL Meet on Feb. 2

MIDDLETON — Last Saturday evening, the North Reading- Danvers High co-op gymnastics team defeated guest Winthrop, 140.7-137.25, at Yellow Jackets in Middleton. With that win, the Falcons improved to 2-0.

“It was a great win for us,” said Falcons head coach Jen Habeeb. “Everybody performed well.”

Jess Mandri led the way coming in first place in all four events as she had an all-around score of 36.75. The junior had a 9.3 in the vault, balance beam and floor exercise. On the bars she scored an 8.85.

“She had been a big addition to the team and she is very consistent,” said Habeeb.

Allie Taylor, of North Reading, was second in two events, the bars (8.8) and floor exercise (8.95). Caroline Boucher, also of North Reading, scored a 9.25 in the vault to place second.

Boucher took third on the bars at 8.7 while Taylor tied on the bars with a Winthrop member as she scored an 8.7 on the beam.

On Feb. 2, the NEC-CAL Meet will take place at Yellow Jackets . That meet will start at 5:30 p.m.

The meet that was snowed out on Jan. 20 against Masconomet will now take place on Feb. 10. It will be a tri-meet as Essex Tech will also be involved.
