NORTH READING — The DPW, along with its contractors, began re-paving Mt. Vernon Street – between Haverhill Street and Park Street – and upper Elm Street – between Haverhill Street and Washington Street – on Tuesday, April 26.

Residents and the traveling public should plan for some delays when utilizing these streets over the next few weeks as the entire roadway surface, along with any asphalt curbing, will be milled and graded, and then resurfaced.

This is the final phase of these roadway reconstruction project begun last year.

To facilitate these roadway projects, please be aware of the following restrictions:

• There will be no on-street parking allowed during this work.

• All vehicles must be removed from these roads for the duration of the work.

• Work hours will be Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.

• Residents should expect some delays traveling on these streets.

• Emergency vehicles and school buses will be allowed passage. A detail police officer will be present.

Please use extreme caution when traveling in a work zone.
