NORTH READING — The North Reading Facilities Master Plan Committee (FMPC) and the North Reading Fire Department invite all residents to visit the fire station at 152 Park St. this Saturday, Sept. 17 to view current conditions and plans for a potential renovation to better meet the needs of the firefighters and the community. The open house will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The FMPC, along with architects, Fire Chief Don Stats and his department, town officials and the community have been working on potential renovation plans for the past year.

Renovation plans include extending the equipment bays to adequately house modern apparatus, addition of areas to decontaminate firefighters upon returning from fire scenes, increased dormitory space and other potential modifications.

It is anticipated that residents will be asked to consider funding schematic design for these renovations at the Monday, October 3 annual Fall Town Meeting.

“This is an opportunity to gain an understanding of this important project,” said FMPC Chair Abby Hurlbut.
