NORTH READING — NOTEorious, North Reading High School’s co-ed a cappella group, recently placed in the top three at N.E. Voices, an A Cappella Festival organized by North Reading High School alumnus Dave Grossman. The competition took place at Chelmsford High School.

Their placement qualified NOTEtorious to compete in the International Championship of High School A Cappella (ICHSA) 2020 Northeast Quarterfinals at the Galvin Middle School in Wakefield on Saturday, February 8. The competition is open to the public and runs from 7-10 p.m. Tickets are $15 (all ages) and may be purchased at www.freshtix.com/events/ichsa-northeast-quarterfinal-at-galvin-middle-school-2020.

The top two finishing groups at this event will advance to the ICHSA Northeast Semifinal in Worcester in March.

NOTEtorious is one of 10 high school groups from Massachusetts, New Hampshire and New York qualifying to compete on Saturday. The other schools in the competition are:

• The Crescendos of Chelmsford High School, Chelmsford

• The Sachimes of Saugus High School, Saugus

• The Thursdays of Chelmsford High School, Chelmsford

• Voices of Steel of Wakefield Memorial High School, Wakefield

The Varsity Vocals International Championship of A Cappella is the only international tournament that showcases the art of student a cappella singing. Its programs include both The Varsity Vocals International Championship of High School A Cappella (ICHSA) and The Varsity Vocals International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella (ICCA). Both age brackets are dedicated to providing top-notch a cappella groups with valuable feedback from their panel of highly qualified judges.

These young vocalists also have the opportunity to showcase their talent to an international audience and develop relationships with each other, with a goal of cultivating the art of a cappella singing and a lifelong love of music.
