NORTH READING — The North Reading High volleyball team won its third match in a row last Friday afternoon as they beat Pentucket 3-0 at home. The Hornets won the three games by scores of 25-12, 25-10, and 25-19.
“We were able to control the entire match,” said North Reading head coach Mike Milone, as the Sachems are a brand-new team. “They are still growing a program.”
Pentucket was a co-op team with Georgetown the past couple of seasons before breaking off this year.
Sheyla Wilk led the Hornets in service points and she had eight service aces.
Liz Kelly and Inga Plavina tied with the team-high in kills with six.
With that victory, the Hornets improved to 4-5 overall and 3-5 in the Cape Ann League.
On Sept. 25, the Hornets won at Triton, 3-0.
“Our setting, along with our defense, was strong,” said Milone. “We did have a few hiccups, however.”
North Reading won the three sets, 25-17, 25-20 and 25-21.
Rachel Perry was the star in this one as the senior had a career-high 23 assists. Kelly, meanwhile, had 10 digs.
