MIDDLETON — This past Sunday morning, the North Reading-Danvers High co-op gymnastics team hosted Hamilton-Wenham at Yellow Jackets in Middleton. The Falcons were able to pick up their first victory of the season as they won 133.1- 131.2 to go to 1-1 on the year.

“We performed very well,” said Falcons head coach Jen Habeeb. “Although we didn’t score as well as we did in the first meet, our routines were stronger.”

Maddie Wescott led the way coming in first in the All-Around with a total score of 36.25 in the four events. She was first in every event. In the vault, she had a 9.45 while she had a score of 8.6 on the bars. She had a 9.2 on the balance beam and a 9.0 in the floor exercise.

Allie Taylor, a senior co-captain from North Reading, captured second in the vault with a score of 9.2.

Eighth-grader Dianna Figueiredo tied for second on the floor at 8.7.

Senior co-captain, Emily Tobin, came in third in the All-Around at 32.6 with the top showing coming on the floor with a score of 8.2.

The home meet against Bishop Fenwick scheduled for Jan. 9th was postponed (makeup date unknown at press time).

The next meet for the Falcons will be on Jan 23 back at Yellow Jackets at 9:30 a.m. as they face undefeated Masconomet again. The Chieftains who won the state title in 2019 and 2020 won the season opener, 148.95- 135.8, back on Jan. 2.
