BOSTON — On Wednesday, Jan. 12 the girls’ indoor track and field team closed out their regular season schedule with an impressive win over Lynnfield 75-24. This brought the team record to 4-0 in the Cape Ann League’s Kinney Division (Large School Division) and ended the regular season schedule for the team.

The season is only halfway done at this point as the Hornets are just wrapping up the 7th week of training and competition leading into the next couple of weekends of invitationals, MSTCA State Relay Championship, Cape Ann League Open Championship and MIAA State Championship.

The team was led by Ava McIntyre who scored 11.25, winning the 55 Meter Dash (7.68), Long Jump (15’ 11”) and was part of the winning 4×400 meter relay. Ella Monteleone was also a double winner scoring 10 points by taking the High Jump (4’ 10”) and 55 Meter Hurdles (9.68 seconds). Giuliana Ligor scored 9.25 points, winning the 600 Meters (1:48.10), taking second in the High Jump (4’ 8”) and anchoring the winning 4 x 400 meter relay.

Kayla Budny was a close second to McIntyre in the 55 meter dash (7.76), while Ella Mazzei (8.06) and Jenna Mahoney (8.52) both hit personal best marks. Madison DiNapoli won the 300 Meters with a new personal best time of 43.18 followed by Isabelle Lazure (46.59) in second who also hit a new pb as did Madelyn Arian Aitchison (49.12) followed by Pia Sfikas (50.10).

Sophia Galuppo took 3rd in the 600 meters behind Ligor with a new season best of 2:03.52. Karleigh Budny (3:39.59) and Allison Koenig (3:52.11) went 2-3 in the 1000 meters while Stella DaSilva (3:52.66) had a nearly 10 second personal best run.

Annalise Butler hit the automatic qualifying mark for the state championship in the One Mile Run going 5:49.51 for first place followed by Charlotte McLaughlin (6:10.53) who took 3rd place.

Callie MacLellan stepped up in the Two Mile Run to take 2nd in 13:36.55.

Brooke Harrington completed the sweep in the High Jump behind Monteleone and Ligor with a 3rd place leap of 4’ 6”.

Isabella Lazure picked up 2nd in the Long Jump going 13’ 3.25” Emma Mini (30’ 9”) and Madison Vant (27’ .5”) went 2-3 in the Shot Put and Sabrina Mini hit a new pb going 26’ 11”. Vant also took 2nd in the 55 meter hurdles (9.75) behind Monteleone, while Kayla Hannan (10.04) completed the sweep in the event.

Capping off the meet the Hornets won both the 4×200 meter relay (1:56.68) and 4×400 meter relay (4:26.42).

The Hornets will next compete this Saturday, Jan. 22 at the Reggie Lewis Center as they compete for the Division 4 State Relay Championship. You can watch that meet live for free on youtube on the baystate running channel. The competition starts at 9 a.m.
