The Chieftains scored the first goal of the game in the 13th minute. But the NRHS defense and senior captain goalkeeper Alyssa Crugnale stood strong for the rest of the first half and the Masco lead remained 1-0 at the halftime break.

The Hornets hard defensive work paid off early in the second half when Kellogg got North Reading on the board in the 51st minute. Neither team was able to score again the rest of the way and the game ended at 1-1.
