NORTH READING — The beat goes on for the North Reading High girls’ soccer team as they continue hammering over-matched opponents.

On Tuesday afternoon, guest Amesbury was the victim as the Hornets shut them out 7-0.

With the victory, the Hornets improved to 12-0 overall and 11-0 in the Cape Ann League.

It only took 34 seconds for the team to score as Kiersten Higgins found the back of the Red Hawk net assisted by Allie Lanciani.

Alex Sfikas assisted by Higgins and Reilly Tassinari, made it 2-0 at the 24 minute mark. Sfikas scored again just 2;40 later assisted by Lanciani.

Ariana Demetri, assisted by Tassinari, had the fourth goal at the 33:43 mark.

Tassinari made it 5-0 assisted by Lanciani at the 43-minute mark for the first goal of the second half.

Lanciani made it 6-0 assisted by Demetri just 1:14 later.

Higgins, assisted by Taylor Osterlind, had the game’s final goal at the 46:54 mark.

Macy Kurchian had another easy day in net having to make only one save to record her 10th shutout of the fall.

On Oct. 3, the Hornets shut out guest Triton, 7-0, to complete the season sweep over the Vikings as they beat them, 7-1 back on Sept. 5.

This was another mismatch as the Hornets scored all seven goals in the opening half.

Higgins and Lanciani both recorded hat tricks while Sara Suny had the other goal.

Higgins kicked off the scoring 4:54 in assisted by Lanciani. Higgins then made it 2-0, unassisted, 7:55 in.

Lanciani had the third and fourth goals. Her first one came at the 11:43 mark assisted by Tassinari. The second one, at 19:35, was assisted by Julia Scammon and Marisa Montana.

Suny scored on a penalty kick at the 27:13 mark to make it 5-0.

Higgins got her hat trick at the 32:55 mark, unassisted. Lanciani then got hers at 33:54 assisted by Scammon.

Kurchian made two saves in net.

On Oct. 10, the Hornets visit Pentucket at 4:30 p.m.

They then host rival Lynnfield on Oct. 15 with that game starting at 6:30 p.m.

The Hornets are trying to complete the season sweep against both schools.

North Reading entered this week ranked 6th in the MIAA Division 3 power rankings.
