NEW YORK CITY, N.Y. — Last Friday, North Reading junior Billy Lord took his Division 4 State Championship, 3rd overall finish in the All-State championship and 5th overall finish in the New England Championship to New York City to compete in at New Balance Nationals. Lord competed in the emerging elite category of the 60 meter hurdles.

His preliminary heat was a strong one as he took 2nd and hit a time of 8.16. Lord waited anxiously for the last heats to finish as he had a shot to make the national final. Sure enough, he had the 7th fastest qualifying time and made it to the final which was three hours later.

The final race was extremely close as multiple places came down to thousandths of a second. In a quick 8.10, Lord finished 5th in the country in the event!

A huge congratulations to Billy on his impressive winter track campaign. He is looking to taking an easy recovery week and then he will be back at it with his teammates as the spring track season opens up on Monday, March 18.
