NORTH READING — The staff of North Reading Parks and Recreation has announced six weeks of enrichment programming full of socially distant fun. A different program is offered each week with two sessions. Please choose the one session most convenient for you. We ask that you do not register for both the morning and afternoon sessions as they are the same program. Space and class size is very limited.

Please give us a call at 978-664-6016 or go online at www.northreadingma.gov/parks-recreation for more information on programming this summer. Please know your child(ren)’s safety remains our top priority. Be assured NR Recreation has worked diligently with the Massachusetts Recreation and Parks Association, our local officials and Board of Health to provide quality programming to our community while adhering to all COVID-19 guidelines.

The enrichment programs are for ages 7-12. The morning session is 8:30 -11:30 a.m.; the afternoon session is 12:30 – 3:30 p.m. The cost is $160 / 4 day enrichment program(s) which are held at the Rec Center at Ipswich River Park (IRP), North Reading.

Make an egg glow in the dark or squeeze through a little bottle opening. Create explosions and eruptions. Make cups disappear and flowers change color. Have some fun with static electricity. Make and play with oobleck. Skittles, elephant’s toothpaste and dinosaur eggs add to the fun. Program has some outdoor fun and indoor activities with stations spaced 6 feet apart; each participant gets their own supplies.

Outside the Lines Monday, July 13 – Thursday, July 16. Join us for a week of really fun, creative art working with several different mediums to make some amazing art projects. Kids will try their skills at drip painted terracotta pots, creative tee shirts, straw blowing art, shaving cream art, puff paint, frozen paint, tape resist canvas art, painted rocks and smash painting. Kids bring home several projects at week’s end and will enjoy some outdoor art time; when indoors registrants are spaced 6 feet apart at their art tables. Each child receives their own supplies and will not be sharing.

The following enrichment programs are also for ages 7-12. Two three-hour sessions being offered daily Mondays through Thursdays; mornings 8:30 – 11:30 a.m. or afternoons 12:30 – 3:30 p.m.
