NORTH READING — Town residents are urged to return their town census to the Town Clerk’s Office as soon as possible.

The annual town census was mailed to all households in January, per state law. The mailing also included the annual dog license renewal form and a paper copy of an accessibility survey by the Transportation Committee and Commission on Disabilities.

“If you did not receive a census form by the end of January or are new to North Reading, please contact my office at 978-537-5230,” said Town Clerk Sue Duplin.

Returning the town census will ensure one’s voter status remains “active.” If voter status is listed as “I” [Inactive] on the census form, the status will automatically change back to “A” [Active] after the form is updated. However, since it takes time to update all of the forms those residents whose status was listed as “inactive” on the form should be prepared to present proof of residency the next time they visit the polls, such as at the March 5 presidential primary.
