NORTH READING — The Department of Public Works has scheduled a special waste collection day for propane tanks, tires, car batteries, and mercury thermometers/thermostats on Saturday, June 9, from 9 a.m. – 12 noon at the Richard Spindler DPW Complex, 166 Chestnut Street.

Open to residents only; proof of residency required.

A fee will be charged for the disposal of propane tanks and tires

Propane Tanks: Up to 20 lbs. $10 each; above 20 lbs. $20 each

Tires: Automobile – $ 2 each: Large truck tires, with or without rim – $13 each

No Charge for the Following: Car Batteries; Fluorescent Bulbs; Mercury Thermometers/Thermostats; Paper Shredding (2 box limit per household); Rigid Plastic; Scrap Metal

The Compost Center will be open for leaves, brush and grass clippings on this day.
