NORTH READING — The 2nd annual North Reading Tennis Open will take place on Oct. 21 and 22 at the North Reading High School tennis courts. The first-day matches are slated to start at 8 a.m.
“We had a great year last year and are hoping for a even bigger turnout this year,” said tournament director Mark Bisognano, who is running it along with Matt Tiberii.
Bisognano is the boys’ tennis coach at North Reading High while Tiberii is the girls’ coach.
There are two different levels the tournament is being split up in, the junior division (ages 17 and younger) and the adult division (18 and over).
The junior division will have a singles and doubles tournament. The adult division will have a men’s singles and doubles event and a women’s singles and doubles event.
There is also a mixed doubles event for the adult division.
This tournament is open to anybody, regardless of experience or hometown, and is $30 per player. If a player wants to compete in different events (single, doubles or mixed doubles) it is $30 for each different event.
Prizes for all of the winners will be awarded.
A major portion of the proceeds raised will go to the North Reading High boys’ and girls’ tennis programs.
Players can register on the North Reading town website (www.northreadingma.gov and click on Parks and Recreation).
