A loving, kind and caring mother and grandmother; loved to play games with her grandkids

NORTH READING — Catherine M. (Keefe) Girard, 79, of North Reading, formerly of North Andover, Newburyport, Peabody, and Revere passed away on Thursday, July 7, 2022.

Born in Revere on November 27, 1942, she was the loving daughter of the late Amelia (McGrath) Keefe and John Keefe.  She was a graduate of Immaculate Conception High School in Revere.

Catherine leaves two daughters, Debbie (Girard) Walton and her husband Todd, of Kingston, N.H. and Lynne (Girard) Copelas and her husband George of North Reading. She has four grandchildren, Kelsey Walton, Nick Copelas, Kristina Copelas and Kaitlyn Copelas who were her pride and joy of life.  Sister of the late John Keefe, Barbara DiPasquale and Margaret Keefe.

Affectionately, called Nana, she was a loving mother and grandmother.  She was kind, loving, and caring to all her family and friends. She loved to play games with the grandchildren, cook, watch old classics like Bonanza and Gunsmoke, local news and loved to help others.

After raising her children, Catherine worked for Boston Gas Company for 20 years and as a legal secretary before retiring.

Visiting hours and service will be held at the Croswell Funeral Home, 19 Bow Street, North Reading on Tuesday, July 19, 2022.  Visiting hours from 4-7 p.m., service to follow at 7 p.m.

Memorial donations may be made in her memory to Disabled Veterans, Operation Smile, American Lung Association or American Heart Association.
