A quick-witted, funny family man who enjoyed singing and weightlifting
NORTH READING — Christopher P. “Chris” Thomas, beloved husband of Cheryl (Oliveira) Thomas and devoted father of Courtney, passed away on Wednesday, September 21, 2022 at the age of 49. Born in Malden, he was the loving son of Peter and Mary Ann (Artesani) Thomas.
Chris entertained his family with jokes, his fine singing and his quick wit. The life of the party, he made friends wherever he went; you’d often find him with them at his favorite hometown spots. Chris also enjoyed weightlifting at the gym, gaming on his iPad and being with his beloved dogs, Jayce and Nala.
Chris was a graduate of North Reading High School and was a proud veteran, having served in the United States Army in the 101st Airborne Division. Chris worked as an electrician and was a member of the IBEW Local 103 Union. He worked diligently to support his family. Chris had a heart of gold. He lived a life full of love for family and friends. He was always there to help someone in need.
Cherished by his entire family, especially his nieces and nephews, his greatest joy came from the love and time he spent with his daughter, his pride and joy, Courtney, and his loving wife of 17 years, Cheryl.
Chris will be deeply missed by all the people he knew and lives he touched.
In addition to Cheryl, Courtney, and Peter and Mary Ann, he was the son-in-law of Daniel Oliveira of Stoneham and Elaine Oliveira of North Reading. Chris was the dear brother of Michelle Reid and her husband Glenn of North Reading, Joseph L. Thomas of North Reading, and Jessica Bees and her husband Eric of Saugus. He was the brother-in-law of Dan Oliveira and his wife Cathy of North Reading and Danielle O’Neal of Bradford.
Chris was the cherished uncle of Michael O’Neal and Casey O’Neal of Bradford, Daniel Oliveira and Dylan Oliveira of North Reading, Thomas Bees of Saugus, Sommer Reid and Danika Reid of North Reading, Deanna Oliveira of North Reading and Isla Bees of Saugus.
Relatives and friends attended his funeral Mass at St. Theresa’s Church in North Reading, on Wednesday, September 28 at 10:30 a.m. Interment followed in Riverside Cemetery, North Reading.
Visiting hours were held at the Cota Funeral Home, 335 Park St., North Reading on Tuesday, September 27.
