Had a love for travel, accomplished attorney

MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. — Debra Lynn (Van Wie) Govostes, 57, from Eden, New York; Cheshire, Conn. and North Reading, Mass., passed away on Tuesday, February 5, 2019, after a prolonged battle with cancer. She lived in Mount Pleasant, S.C. for the past three years.

Deb was predeceased by her parents, Donald and Phyllis Van Wie of Cheshire, Conn. Deb is survived by her beloved children, Nicholas and Marina, age 21, and her siblings and their spouses: Daniel Van Wie, Sergio and Dawn (Van Wie) Deganis, Douglas and Sharon Van Wie, and Donald Van Wie, Jr., all from Connecticut, and her beloved nieces and nephews: Ryan, Haley, Alexandra, Marisa, Julie, Mark, Justin, John, Meghan, Jake, Claire and Matthew. She also leaves behind several dear friends from New York, Connecticut and Massachusetts.

Calling hours will be held at the Croswell Funeral Home, 19 Bow Street, North Reading on Friday, March 8 from 4 -7 p.m. A memorial service is planned for her at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 235 Park Street, North Reading, on Saturday. March 9 at 2 p.m., where she and her children were members.

Deb will be remembered as a loving mother, loyal friend, accomplished attorney, beloved sibling, and most especially, as a fun-loving, compassionate and generous soul who touched many lives and enjoyed many close and life-long friendships.
