NORTH READING — Jay S. Baumgarten, 64, of North Reading, entered eternal rest on April 20, 2021.

Jay was born and raised in New York, N.Y. where he attended SUNY Oswego and graduated from Adelphi University. He worked at ASE Technologies in Wilmington as a software and sales executive for more than 20 years; afterwards, he continued his love of sales through his independent work.

Jay was involved in local youth sports, coaching for North Reading Little League, North Reading Youth Hockey, Masco Youth Hockey, and Buxton Ball in North Andover as well as a referee for USA Hockey and an umpire with the Greater Lawrence Umpire Association. He was also a member of the Tewksbury Gun Club.

Jay was the devoted husband of Carol (Perkins) Baumgarten and the beloved father of Aaron Baumgarten and Ray Baumgarten. He was the loving son of Sondra (Sweet) and the late Neil Baumgarten, and the brother of Marc Baumgarten.

Due to restrictions, graveside services and memorial week were private. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in his memory may be made to the Special Olympics of Massachusetts to honor Jay’s strong belief in inclusivity in sports (specialolympicsma.org/get-involved/as-a-donor/).
