RN who was a kind, caring, compassionate woman

NORTH READING — Joan C. (Hatch) LeGrow, 76, of North Reading, passed away on Sunday, March 13, 2022 surrounded by her loved ones.

Joan was born on October 25, 1945 to Walter Hatch and Francis (Jeffrey) Hatch. She was a graduate of Wakefield High School, class of 1963. She graduated from Malden Hospital School of Nursing and became a Registered Nurse in 1966. She worked at Malden Hospital as a medical surgical nurse, ER nurse, and OB-GYN nurse. She finished her nursing career of 47 years at an allergist’s office after Malden Hospital closed. She loved helping patients, working with new residents in the clinic, and providing support and instructions for her patients and their families. A more kind, caring, and compassionate person you may never meet.

Joan was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and a wonderful friend to those who were blessed to know her. Family was of utmost importance to her. She enjoyed hosting holidays and special occasions at her home and provided endless love and support to her entire family. The friends she made were forever friends. She connected with and touched everyone she met and always had positive words to offer.

She had many talents and shared her love of baking with her grandchildren. Summers were spent entertaining friends and family at the lake, tending to her beautiful gardens, taking drives in the mountains of New Hampshire, and enjoying walks along the ocean in Maine. She was a truly special person and will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Joan is survived by her high school sweetheart and devoted husband of 55 years, Jeffrey Vaughn; son Jeffrey Jr. and his partner Amy; son Gregory and his wife Denise; grandchildren Chris, Ryan, Hailey, Evan, Angela and James; and brother Walter Hatch.

She will be honored and remembered by family and friends with a Celebration of Life at her home in North Reading.
