NORTH READING — John F. McNeil, 60, of North Reading, died unexpectedly at his home on Saturday, June 29, 2019.

Born in Winchester on June 4, 1959, John was a lifelong resident of North Reading and a graduate of North Reading High School, Class of 1977.

John was a truck driver for many years. He was self-employed and has been retired for the past three years.

He was a great dad, grandfather, husband, brother, son, uncle and friend. John enjoyed family get togethers and summers by the pool. He made everyone laugh and always had a good story to tell. John loved motorcycling, fishing, hunting and going to his camp in New Hampshire. He was a member of the North Reading Moose Lodge, No. 1511.

Family members include his loving wife of 29 years, Eileen (Gardner) McNeil; his daughters, Lynda Saunders, Kelly McNeil and Maria McNeil; his mother, Rita (Celino) McNeil; brothers, Walter “Buster” McNeil, Jr., Francis “Franny” McNeil and Patrick McNeil and his wife Shelby; sister, Christine Wiese and her husband John; three grandchildren, Nicholas John, Aiden Alexander and Kayla Jean; and many nieces and nephews. He was the son of the late Walter McNeil.

His funeral will be held from the Croswell Funeral Home, 19 Bow Street, North Reading on Saturday, July 6, at 9:15 a.m., followed by 10:30 a.m. funeral Mass at St. Theresa’s Church, 63 Winter Street, North Reading. Calling hours will be held on Friday, July 5 from 4 to 7 p.m. Burial will be held in Riverside Cemetery in North Reading.
