Adventurous and enjoyed the outdoors 

LOS ANGELES, California — John I. McNabb, 52, passed away unexpectedly on March 4, 2023 while hiking near his home in Los Angeles, California.

John was born in Seoul, South Korea on August 8, 1970. In 1977, he was adopted into the loving family of Thomas J. McNabb and W. Patricia (McCarvill) McNabb.

John grew up in North Reading, graduating from North Reading High School in 1989. He worked in the food and hospitality industry for several years and earned a bachelor’s degree in food service management from Johnson & Wales University in 1994.

John moved to Los Angeles in 1999 and transitioned to managing customer care for several internet-based companies. It was in Los Angeles that John met the love of his life, Emi Yoda. They were married in 2007 and blessed with a daughter, Juno, in 2014.

John was adventurous and enjoyed the outdoors, particularly riding his motorcycle and camping. He had a carefree outlook that endeared him to everyone he knew. He will be sorely missed.

John is survived by his wife Emi Yoda-McNabb and daughter Juno McNabb of Los Angeles, California. He is also survived by his parents, Thomas and Patricia McNabb, of Centerville, Massachusetts, formerly of North Reading; his brother Joseph McNabb of Los Angeles, California; his brother Andrew McNabb of Portland, Maine; his sister Marion McNabb of Centerville, Massachusetts; his sister Claire McNabb of Pelham, New Hampshire; and by many nieces and nephews who adored him.

For friends and family on the West Coast, a service was held on Sunday, March 19 at Bastian and Perrott, Oswald Mortuary, 18728 Parthenia St., Northridge, California.

For friends and family on the East Coast, there will also be a celebration of John’s life on Saturday, April 1, 2023 from noon to 3 p.m. at Kitty’s Restaurant, 123 Main Street, North Reading.
