Avid movie buff, enjoyed crossword puzzles and reading

MELROSE — Karen A. McManus, 56, passed away suddenly on January 21, 2020.
Karen was a 1981 graduate of Melrose High School and attended Bunker Hill Community College. Most of her working career was as a Central Office Technician for the New England Telephone Company until she retired.
Karen loved to read, do crossword puzzles, and was an avid movie buff. She had a great sense of humor and was easy to talk to. She was beautiful, intelligent and had a heart of gold. Karen was kind to all animals and loved all types of music. She had a collection of pigs in all shapes and sizes. She was one of a kind and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Karen was the beloved daughter of the late Edward and Elizabeth (Sousa) McManus. She was the loving sister of Debra L. McManus of Barnstable, Donna M. Saunders of North Reading, Edward J. McManus and his wife Judy of Squantum, Paul T. McManus, Glen F. McManus, Shaun R. McManus, and Stacey L. McManus-McGuire, all of Melrose. She was the cherished aunt of Ashley Daley and her husband Michael, Wesley Saunders, Edward McManus, Eric McManus, James McManus, Zachary McGuire and Jake McManus. Karen was also the great aunt of Brooklyn, Jack and Connor, and she had many cousins and close friends.
Visitation was held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Monday, January 27. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Mary’s Church, Melrose on Tuesday, January 28. Relatives and friends were respectfully invited to attend.
