A loving, family-oriented woman who found nursing to be her calling

CHESTER, N.H. — Laurel E. (Berry) Ford, 59, of Chester, N.H., died Thursday, January 6, 2022, at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Boston, after a brief illness.

Laurel was born in Lynn on June 28, 1962 to the late Keith and Maureen (Glynn) Berry. She grew up and was educated in North Reading. Laurel went on to earn her associate’s degree in Travel and Tourism and later found her calling to be nursing, returning to school once again at the age of 42 and receiving her LPN from St. Joseph’s School of Nursing in Nashua, N.H. She worked in the field of elderly healthcare ever since. She was a resident of Chester for the past six years, and was formerly of Derry, N.H., where she lived with her husband and raised their family for 25 years.

Laurel was an LPN for Holy Cross Healthcare in Manchester, N.H. where she found much joy in taking care of and grew very attached to the nuns and other residents in her care. Laurel was all about her family. She loved spending time with them and was anxiously awaiting the arrival of her grandson Jameson.

Laurel is survived by her beloved husband of 38 years, Dennis Ford of Chester, N.H.; her loving children, Daniel Ford of Chester, N.H., Patrick Ford of Chester, N.H., and Kaleigh and her husband, Ryan Donelan, of Epping, N.H.; her brother Mark Berry and his partner Maria Spina of North Reading; her grandson Oliver and several nieces and nephews.

A burial service will be announced at a later date and interment will take place in the spring.
