Enjoyed Red Sox, traveling and fostering cats

MEDFORD — Lois Anne Phinney, 71, of Medford, died December 14, 2021 at the Bear Hill Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Stoneham.  She was the daughter of the late Kenneth and Theresa (Frackleton) Phinney.

Born in Malden on October 7, 1950, Lois was raised in North Reading and was a graduate of the North Reading High School’s Class of 1968. She attended Middlesex Community College. For over 40 years she was employed as an Administrative Assistant for the Bedford V.A. Hospital and Hanscom Air Force Base.

Lois enjoyed fostering cats from a local shelter where she volunteered. A few of her other interests were music, reading and traveling. A life-long Red Sox fan, she attended many playoff and World Series games. She loved rooting for her team, and you were equally likely to hear her shouting criticism along with encouragement.

Lois is survived by her three sisters, Elaine, Laurie and Nancy, who was also her goddaughter, and her brother, Robert. Lois was also a 32-year breast cancer survivor. Donations may be made in her memory to the MSPCA at mspca.org/donate or send a check payable to MSPCA-Angell, Attn: Donations, 350 South Huntington Ave., Boston, MA 02130.
