NORTH READING — Richard F. Herlihy, 67, of North Reading, passed away on January 19, 2019.

Richard was the beloved husband of Sandra (Stanley) Herlihy and the father of Melissa Bellavance and her husband William of North Reading, Michael Herlihy of North Reading, Matthew and his wife Samantha of Dracut, and Mark Herlihy and his wife Jennifer of Woburn. He was the brother of Diane Rayla and her husband Philip of Harvard; Ronnie Cavanaugh and her husband James of California; Janet Smith and her husband Arthur of Florida; Carol Herlihy of Rowley; Susanne Meuse of California, and Linda Laliberte and her husband Steven, also of California. Born on April 7, 1951, Richard enjoyed summers in Harrison, Maine sitting by the campfire telling stories to his kids, grandkids, nieces and nephews, especially after kids’ night out. He was always willing to offer rides for his sisters to work and helped each of them move when needed. Richard enjoyed taking train rides during school vacations with his kids when they were young and continued the tradition with his grandkids.

He was a Cub Master for Troop 726 and assistant Cub Master for Troop 706 in Reading and coached every team on which his kids played. Richard would always say, “By the way did you know I worked at Polaroid?” He loved working there and stayed until the company closed. Everyone who knew Richard, especially his family, will miss him deeply.
