Life-long Pats fan, lover of animals, and avid reader

HULL — Robert J. Brady, 80, formerly of Malden and Pocasset, Mass. and a Hull resident since 2001, passed away on February 18, 2023 after living courageously through a 20-plus year struggle with renal cancer.

A few of Brady’s life experiences include eight years serving in the U.S. Air Force, honorably discharged as Staff Sergeant, Air Traffic Controller/negotiator for PATCO, proprietor of Air Design Systems of Cape Cod and inductee into the Malden Catholic Athletics Hall of Fame. In retirement, he enjoyed being active in the Hull community serving on the Parking Committee and volunteering as a Docent at the Paragon Carousel Museum.

Born August 5, 1942, he was predeceased by his first wife Patricia, his godmother Ag, his brother Edward, his nephew Tim and his parents Edward F. Brady and Elizabeth (O’Rourke).

He is survived by his wife, Teresa, children, Michael and Angela, Lori and Chris, Sean and Julie, Christopher and Christine, and Lynne and Richard and his grandchildren, Abby, Tori, Jeff, Devan, Sarah, Brady, Dylan, Spencer, Reaghan, Norah, Kaila, Gavin and Colin. He is also survived by his brothers, sister and their spouses – Jay, George and Karen, Ken and Judy, Mark and Tricia, and Noreen and John.  His cherished friend Kim and many nieces and nephews also survive him.

His family is grateful to his long-time exceptional caregivers from Dwyer Home and the Norwell Visiting Nurses.

Brady, a life-long Patriots fan, enjoyed the lore and post-game recaps. The annual brother’s jaunt to Miami to see the Patriots play against the Dolphins was a treasured ritual.

Road trips to his children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events were high on his list of favorite events.

A lover of animals, notably his dogs, Shamrock, Kelly, Murphy, and Noah, and his unique companion cat, Champ, he was also an avid observer of Eastern shore birds from his beloved home on the bay, which he designed and built.

A prolific reader, he was rarely spotted without a book in his hand and maintained a collection of hard covers from his favorite authors.

Services will be held on Wednesday, March 1, 2023 at Pyne-Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St., Hingham. Visitation will begin at noon followed by a life celebration at 3 p.m.
