A loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed sewing

NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla. — Therese A. Roux (Terry), 85, of New Port Richey, Florida, formerly from Woonsocket, Rhode Island and Bellingham, passed away unexpectedly on November 12, 2021. Terry was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Terry was born in Woonsocket, Rhode Island, daughter of the late Henry and Dolores Plante. She moved to Florida 32 years ago with her late husband, Eugene Roux. Together they raised three children. Terry worked at Narragansett Knitting Mills as a seamstress and then as a medical secretary and lastly as a seamstress in a bridal salon. She enjoyed sewing, shopping and shoes. She was faithful to her religion and frequented Sunday Mass. She was a mentor, advisor, and enjoyed counseling others.

She was a devoted mother to her children and their spouses, including her daughter, Susan Nelson and her husband Ron of North Reading; and her son, Dr. Richard Roux and his wife Muriel of North Carolina. She was predeceased by her son David, her brother Marcel and her baby sister Rita Plante. She was the proud grandmother of Erica and Nicole Nelson and Liana and Jessica Roux and great-grandmother to Felix Riddle-Roux.

Terry is also survived by her loving sister Alice Dupre of Woonsocket, Rhode Island and goddaughter Debra Riekstins of Wilmington.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or to Chapters Health System (chaptershealth.org).

A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, January 8, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Theresa’s Church, 63 Winter St., North Reading.
