A quiet presence but always radiated his love for family

WINDHAM, N.H. — Thomas Arthur “Tom” Bowman, 83, of Windham, N.H., formerly of North Reading, Mass., passed away on Thursday afternoon, August 25, 2021 at the Elliot Hospital in Manchester, N.H. after a brief illness. His strength was, as always, incredible.

Tom was born on December 28, 1937 in Melrose to Margaret (Dumphy) and Arthur Bowman. He was raised in Everett, attended local schools, and went on to study mechanics at Wentworth Institute of Technology. Tom also served in the United States Air Force Reserves after receiving his degree.

In 1961, Tom married the love of his life, Joyce Mckeil, and the couple raised their family in North Reading. Tom spent his career working as a Fleet Mechanic and spent many years working for the New England Telephone Company. Tom was a tireless worker and always worked multiple jobs to provide his family with the means to create lasting memories of camping, Disney trips and summers at the lake.

In his spare time, he loved to go fishing and hunting. He was very handy and was proud to say that he could build a house from the ground up. There was never a job that Tom couldn’t do and he proved this time and time again by helping friends and family with electrical, carpentry and plumbing jobs. He never said “no” to anyone who asked him for help and always did his jobs with a smile.

Tom’s greatest joy and best memories were the times he spent with his family. “Grampy/Bebee” was always a quiet presence but radiated his love for his grandchildren. People always said that kids and dogs loved him because of his kind disposition.

Tom is survived by his loving daughters, Kristin E. Bowman of Hutchinson Island, Fla., Dana L. Delano and her husband Kevin Delano, of North Reading, and Keily J. Tanguay and Kevin Tanguay of Derry, N.H. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren, Samantha, Drew, Abigail, Emma, Owen and Noah, as well as his cousin, Judy Dorr, and her husband Robert, his sisters-in-law, and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Tom was predeceased by his beloved wife of 56 years, Joyce Bowman.

A graveside service will be held and services will be private for the family.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the American Bladder Cancer Society, 12 Flansburg Avenue, Dalton, MA 01226-1409.
