Enjoyed being a Wilmington Minuteman, attending country music concerts and traveling with family
NORTH READING — William J. Robinson, 62, of North Reading, formerly a long-time resident of Wilmington, passed away on Sunday, August 18, 2024 after a lengthy battle with MS.
Known as Bill or Billy to his friends and family, he was born to the late William J. Robinson Jr. and the late Marie Diane (Donnaruma) Robinson on October 4, 1961. Bill was born in Malden and grew up in Tewksbury where he graduated from Shawsheen Tech, class of 1979.
He proudly served in the Air Force from 1979–1983 where he was stationed in the Philippines. After serving our country he earned his associate’s degree in business at Hesser College. He then went to work in IT for years at Joyce Chen before landing at Holt & Bugbee where he worked for over 20 years before retiring.
Bill married Nanci in 1990 and they bought their house in Wilmington to raise their family. Bill enjoyed exercising and taking long walks with family and friends. He enjoyed being a member of Wilmington Minutemen for many years and attending all their events including his favorites at the Ancient & Honorable Installation of Officers, midnight walk to Concord, the Pancake Breakfast, and many encampments over the years. He was a proud member of the Tewksbury/Wilmington Elks for many years.
Some of his favorite pastimes were going to many country concerts over the years and watching openers later become headliners. He loved stopping into local stores and playing Keno, The Daily Number, and other games. Thanks to everyone who always knew his “regular” when his wife and daughter couldn’t explain what he wanted to play! He enjoyed traveling to Disney, cruises, the Caribbean, and around New England with his family.
Bill is survived by his wife, Nanci Ann (Little) Robinson, and his daughter, Kristina Robinson and her fiancé Edward Bromander, and his sisters, Lisa M. Curtis and her husband Richard, of Vero Beach, Florida, and Kristine M. Sheedy and her husband Matthew, of Tewksbury; his nieces and nephews, Amanda Curtis, Jennifer Pantages and her husband Nick, and Sam Canelas and his girlfriend Kendall Paolella, and extended family and many friends.
Family and friends attended calling hours on Tuesday, August 27 from 10 a.m.–12 p.m. at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington, immediately followed by a Service to celebrate Bill’s life at noon. Interment with Military Honors followed in Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington.
