ALDERSGATE’S Vacation Bible School hosted 28 children from preschool to grade 5 who were joined by 11 youth volunteers (grades 7-12) plus 12 adult leaders last month. “It’s wonderful to see the older kids grow as leaders, taking on responsibilities for the younger ones,” said Rev. Rachel Fisher. They gathered for opening songs, heard the theme and lesson of the day, and got a visit from a puppet spaceship mechanic to help illustrate the theme. Crews of 5-6 children cycled through five interactive stations then reconvened to sing, dance and see fabulous and spectacular demonstrations to emphasize the day’s learning. Generous donors within the Aldersgate congregation enabled the program to be free for all, a tradition the church has faith will continue. (Courtesy Photo)
