A man of many hobbies who lived a fulfilled life
NORTH READING Robert Francis Bugden, born on August 18, 1939, passed away peacefully on September 15, 2021 at 11:06 a.m., at age 82. He fought valiantly for 1 ½ years from lung disease.

A loving husband and father, he is survived by his wife, Brenda Bugden; his daughter, Kimberly Khaund and her husband Rollin; his daughter, Debra Merrigan and her husband Daniel; and his daughter, Susan Bugden and Scot Pare. He had one sister, Lorraine Lacroix, her husband, Tom, and son Kurt. He was the son of Francis and Dorothy Bugden. He had eight grandchildren: Sean Houlihan and his wife, Sheralin; Shannon Lavoie and her husband, Jason; Brett Houlihan and his wife, Samantha; Brittany Houlihan, Nicole Merrigan, Micheal Merrigan, Ryan Merrigan and Shane Merrigan. He also had four great-grandchildren: Ava Lavoie, Addison Lavoie, Hunter Houlihan, Jeremy Lawrence, and another one on the way.

Robert spent his early years in Cambridge and Arlington, and then settled in North Reading. He graduated from Arlington High School. He worked as a tractor trailer driver and was a member of Teamsters Local #25 until he retired. He was a member of the North Reading Moose Lodge, a previous member of AQHA, and showed quarter horses. He owned a karate studio and as a third degree black-belt, he taught students in his earlier days. He was a Deputy Commissioner at boxing.

He loved having antique cars, showing them and going to car shows. Robert had many hobbies including motorcycles, golf, boating, playing the guitar, karate, horses, cars and sports. He lived a fulfilled life with no regrets.
