Adored by her family

STONEHAM — Gertrude M. (Sutherby) Marshall, 88, of Stoneham passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Thursday, December 14, 2017 at Winchester Hospital.

Born on November 14, 1929 in Brighton, Gertrude was the loving daughter of the late Cuthbert Sutherby and Elizabeth D. (Sheehan) Sutherby. Gertrude was a warm and caring daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, in-law and friend. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Gertrude was the beloved wife of the late John Marshall. She was the devoted mother of Anne Olenio and her husband Bob, John Marshall and his wife Sofia, Robert Marshall and his companion Lorena MacDonald, Linda Kerrigan and her husband Ted and James Marshall and his wife Robin. The cherished grandmother of Amanda, Christine, Katie, Alina, Jarrod, Colleen, Michael, Christopher, Brittany, Kayla, Maegan and the late Jack; Gertrude was the adoring great-grandmother of Tyler, Madison, Anya, Kaleigh and Charlotte.

She was the dear sister of Frank Sutherby and his wife Mary, Rita Shaughnessy and her late husband Frank, the late Mary Noonan and her surviving husband Dan and the late George Sutherby and his late wife Estelle and the late Al Sutherby and his late wife Kathleen. She was the caring sister-in-law of June Marshall and her late husband Merrill and the late George Marshall and his late wife Rosemary, the late Paul Marshall and his late wife Erica, the late Bob Marshall and his late wife Theresa, the late Mary Dooling and her late husband George and the late Lawrence Marshall, Gertrude is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Her funeral was held from the Barile Family Funeral Home, 482 Main St., Stoneham on Monday, December 18, followed by a funeral Mass celebrating Gertrude’s eternal life in St. Patrick Church, 71 Central St., Stoneham. Family and friends were cordially invited to gather and share memories with the family on Sunday, December 17, in the funeral home. Interment St. Patrick’ Cemetery, Stoneham.
