NORTH READING — Thanksgiving is 10 weeks away!  Don’t Panic! No need to start thawing your turkey but now is the perfect time to start training for the 12th Annual North Reading Turkey Trot 5K!

Yes, the 5K family-focused event is back for 2021 and will take place on Thursday, November 25 at 8 a.m., at Ipswich River Park.  The trot welcomes runners and walkers moving through the center of town. This year the race will provide the popular long sleeve “performance” t-shirts which have been a fan favorite!

As in years’ past, awards are given to nine different age brackets as well as the top family teams. The North Reading Public School Challenge will continue with the school having the highest percentage of participants on race day earning $300 for physical education equipment!  Moreover, all funds generated from the event support two scholarships for deserving graduating seniors and benefit the Middle/High School athletic programs.

The race is organized by the North Reading High School Hall of Fame Committee. The race will be run this year with new leadership provided by Kirsten MacLellan who will be responsible for the race day activities. The committee would like to thank the former race director, Kathleen Walsh, for her energy and guidance getting the race to where it is today and the “can’t miss” annual event it has become.

The online registration will be available soon. If you are interested in sponsoring the 2021 event, please contact Joe Davis at jdavis@nrpsk12.org.
