MELROSE — On Saturday, April 16, the DPW is hosting a paper shredding recycling drop off event. Residents can bring two boxes for free and five dollars for each additional box (checks only). It will be held at the Recycling Center at 72 Tremont St. from 8 a.m. to noon.

The items collected at all events include: CRTs (televisions, monitors and laptops), CFL bulbs, tires, mercury items, textiles, books, dried latex paint, metal and white goods (microwaves, air conditioners, refrigerators, pipes, sofa beds, recliners and exercise equipment). Some items have a small fee that helps defray the expenses associated with properly recycling the materials (checks only).
