WAKEFIELD — Patricia “Pat” Dirrane, 72, of Wakefield, died Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital.

Born in Cambridge on April, 21, 1945 she was the daughter of the late Edward and Mary (Mansell) Gilchrist.

Patricia was raised in Watertown and attended Sacred Heart School and St. Patrick’s High School. She worked at Annie’s’ Book Stop for many years and volunteered at the Montrose School in Wakefield. Patricia was passionate in her involvement with St. Florence Church as a member of the Sodality Group and was a consistent volunteer within the church.  She had a great love of books and throughout her life promoted a love of reading in others.

Mrs. Dirrane was the beloved wife of the late Brian Dirrane. She was the loving mother of Lisa Dirrane and her husband Kevin LaRoche of N.H., Corinna “Corrie” Dirrane of Wakefield, Rebecca Salacup and her husband Jeff of Shutesbury, and Michael Dirrane of Wakefield. She was the sister of Paula Caligiuri, Kevin Gilchrist, MaryEllen DeAngelis, Kenneth Gilchrist, and Catherine (Katie) Gilchrist. She was the beloved grandmother of Bria, Shylah, and Hannah Bee.

Her funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Tuesday at 9 a.m., followed by a funeral mass in St. Florence Church, 47 Butler Ave., Wakefield at 10 a.m. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. Interment will be at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
