Grady-obit-webSAUGUS — Patricia M. (Higgins) Grady, 55, of Saugus, passed on June 28.

Patricia was born on June 1, 1960, to Robert and Emily Higgins. She was raised in Melrose and graduated from Melrose High School.

Patricia was always an “A” student, and qualified for a full scholarship to Salem State University. She graduated summa cum laude with a degree in Nursing.

Following college, Patricia married the love of her life, Mark Grady. They raised two children together, Mark and Matthew, and spent over 30 years happily married. Patricia was extremely passionate about her work and believed in helping people live a healthy lifestyle. Over the years she worked at Union Hospital, Lynn Hospital, Beverly Hospital and spent the last five years as the executive director for Lahey Medical Center in Peabody.

Patricia was particularly proud of creating the Lifestyle Management Institute to provide coordinated care for people at risk for or diagnosed with chronic medical conditions. The Institute was a lifelong dream for Patricia and in 2005 she earned her Fellowship with the LMI as her Project Practicum. She then facilitated the creation and construction of Beverly Hospital at Danvers.

When not working, Patricia found peace at the ocean and beach. She loved her trips to Cape Cod and Bermuda. Most of all, Patricia loved her family, who will forever miss her dearly.

She was the beloved wife of Mark P. Grady of Saugus. Dedicated and PROUD mother to Mark P. Grady Jr. and Matthew J. Grady. Her mission in life was to provide her sons the best life possible and see them grow up to become more successful than her. They know Mom will be watching over ensuring they continue to fulfill her mission.

Patricia was the loving sister of Kathy Stanley and her husband Gary of Harvard, Dawn Marshall and her husband Jim of Billerica, Bob Higgins and his fiancée Patricia Cullen of Franklin. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will take place on Monday, July 6, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 West Foster St., Melrose. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 7 at 11 a.m. at the Gately Funeral Home. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
